XXVI – Fracas river modifications

Thursday September 11, 2014us flag

It goes without saying that Fracas has a lower profile. Removing the masts was part one. The masts hold up a bunch of stuff. All this stuff is important and has to find a new location; AIS antenna, VHF antenna, Anchor Light and the Wind Instrument. We also discovered another issue when we removed the head stay. The bowsprit extends 4 or 5 feet over the bow and without the head stay it just sits there sort of supported by the bob stay. This would not be enough support when lifting the anchor, so I have to add something to beef it up. Pictures to follow

We will head to the rivers in the morning unless the sea kicks up too much.
