Water Level looks promising for this summer

I was down at Fracas’ slip yesterday and was pleasantly surprised to see how the water level has come up. water level julyThe graph at right shows the actual water levels to April of this year with projections for the rest of the summer. The 95% probability guess is that the average water level for July and August will be at or near +0.3m above datum. This means about 8″ over last years level with a 5% chance of getting to 0.5m above chart datum. We should be pleased but not ecstatic because even if the water reaches 0.5 it does not quite reach the long term average level for Lake Huron.

We also pay for the new levels with a long cold winter with ice cover and a rain filled spring. I am looking forward to having a little more water under the keel in some of our favourite anchorages.
