My Deere – Salty Dawg

This morning while we were still at Penn’s we met up with one of the crew of My Deere. They left on Tuesday night and had a pretty good run. My Deere is a Hylas 46 and is a stout boat. They tore out the tack of the head sail and repaired that by lashing with dyneema and furling up 10% or so of the sail to reduce stress on the tack.

The remainder of their sail to the BVI was relatively tame. They had 1.5 days of engine only and some squalls here and there.

Nice to meet up with one of the boats and his account of the radio traffic between dawgs and coast guard. Special thanks and recognition always to the brave guys and gals of the coast guard and navy who do their job supporting we crazy sailors…
