CCXXI – Red Shanks

Friday March 27th, 2015

My last post was on Monday as we were preparing to leave for the Jumentos Cays. The trip was pretty mild and sailing was for short durations to Hog Cay cut. We had to time the cut to high tide and we made it through seeing flashes of just over five feet. DevOcean draws a few inches more and she made it through as well.

We came through the cut and faced light air on the nose and motored from the cut to Water Cay our destination. These Cays are unpopulated for the most part, one settlement does exist with about 50 folks in the Ragged Cays.

We spent two nights here and had to cut things short because the cold front was coming and there is no easy/safe refuge in this area. We had a great sail back to Hog Cay cut and had to wait for an hour for the tide.

We thought we would be in a squall when we came through the cut but it drifted off without giving us a little rain.

More to follow, here are some pics of the trip
